2006-03-30 We’ve been here 1 year, Dave visited, and I got stung by a bee!

We’ve been here 1 year now! It seems like we have been here a lot longer. We’re all looking forward to the next year!

A: Uncle Dave was such a laugh! We played so many games in the back of the car, and he was soooo funny! When he read me stories at night, he always wanted to play games, and then read a story! He bought me some great presents:- A space hopper which I got the hang of pretty quickly and some dried mango which I love!

Uncle Dave was a bit worried about all the jellyfish I was collecting at Matilda Bay, but he soon got used to it!

I also got stung by a bee at school when Hanna asked me to lie down on the grass. I was very brave, and didn’t cry much at all! Mummy got a letter explaining it all from Bev, but I was fine! Mummy and Daddy were very relieved, as it was my first bee sting.

When we went to City Beach, I made up this game called Poisonous Waves. Daddy and I ran away from the waves, but whenever we got touched by the waves, we had to pretend we were dead, and we had to touch each other’s chest to bring them back to life! It was really funny. I watched Uncle Dave, Mummy and Daddy when they played bat and ball with the ‘Bang!’ rackets – they were really good, and I hope I can play tennis as good as them soon!

I went to see Beau and Jill on Friday which was really funny! We played really well together, and Jill and Mummy had a good chat.

I can’t wait for my next visitors – Grandma Sik and Grandpa Brian in a couple of weeks I hope! I love having visitors, so many games to play…

C: Started last week with some bad news – the house we set our hearts on was finally sold to the original buyers. It was a beautiful house, in just the right location. We were so disappointed. Now we find there are no affordable houses for sale in the areas that we like, which is now the trend. We’re going to have to look elsewhere.

S: Dave arrived on Friday, and it was raining. We decided to have a game of tennis in the afternoon – a bit windy, and the level of tennis wasn’t great, but so nice to be out!

On Saturday Dave came to watch Aiysha play tennis, and he was very impressed! We went to Pelican Point to go windsurfing, but the wind was far too strong, so we went round the corner to Matilda Bay where we had coffees and cakes! Lovely!

Saturday night Dave and I went to Western Force’s best ever game this season, where they narrowly lost to the Bulls from South Africa. It was an amazing game! Certainly made up for all the bad games so far.

We decided to give windsurfing another go on Sunday, and it was great! There was just enough wind, and Dave and I got up and running pretty quickly! After lunch we all went to City Beach where we threw the ball around, and ran away from the incoming waves. Very relaxing!

Sunday night we visited the Bennion Café, and we got there just as the sun was setting, which was perfect! The meal was wonderful as always!

On Monday, Dave and I play went to Trigg and had a wicked time body surfing – the waves were perfect, and we sometimes boarded all the way into shore. We decided to have a competition to see who could bodyboard the furthest – I won 10-8 – HA! We ended the day at Trigg Café for coffee and cakes, before picking Aiysha up from Harmony and then Claire up from work.

Tuesday we decided to play tennis first thing, as it was a beautiful day, and then revisit Trigg. However, it was far too windy for any good waves, and so we went to Trigg park to throw a tennis ball around, which was excellent fun. Again ended the day with coffee and cakes at Trigg Café, and then picked Aiysha (who had been stung by a bee) and Claire up.

2006-03-20 Dolphins!

A: I saw dolphins! I saw dolphins! On Sunday, we spent the morning at Trigg, and I decided that we should go and play with the children! So we stayed at the small beach, the tide was out, and the sea was so clear we could see fish swimming, and the reef! It was beautiful!

And then, all of a sudden, Mummy shouted ‘Dolphin!’. Daddy wasn’t sure whether Mummy was seeing things, but then it’s body appeared again – it came right out of the sea! Mummy laughed at Daddy for not believing. We followed it up the coast a little, and waited, and it came back! Daddy decided to swim out really far just in case it came back, and then it came out of the water right next to him! Wow! Unfortunately, Daddy didn’t get to touch him. I hope we see many more.

C: We had a local weekend – how boring! I went swimming at Bold Park while Aiysha and Steve went to tennis, where she played some of the best tennis yet! We then went to City beach in the afternoon, had a cake and ice-cream, and then did some body surfing, which was amazing! Steve went for a run while I played the Tiny Bees Game with Aiysha.

After the dolphins, we went to Matilda Bay, and while Steve went windsurfing (where he fell only once in an hour and a half, which is a miracle in itself), we went to collect jellies again! Aiysha found an older friend who knew about which ones were which.

We also popped into a garage sale, where Steve bought a scanner which didn’t work. He was not happy, and stayed up to fix it. It is still broken…Aiysha found some ceramic fairies, which she insisted she have! See how long they will last...

S: Wow!

2006-03-14 Mandurah Crab Fest!

A: We went camping this weekend in Mandurah, and it was sooo funny! Mummy and Daddy couldn’t even build the tent on Friday, so I knew it was going to be funny! I slept all the way down to Mandurah – it is so nice going to sleep somewhere, and waking up completely different! It was so exciting. Mummy and Daddy put the tent right next to the campsite park! Even though I wanted to go and play in the park, I knew it would be funnier watching Mummy and Daddy set up the tent, and I helped too, and before we knew it, it was up! We all jumped in, cuddled up, and laughed!

We then went off to the Crab Fest! It was 5:30 by the time we got there, and it was a beautiful day! I was up until really late, and watched some not so good bands playing, went on the bouncy castle, watched some skateboarders hurt themselves, saw some camels, walked along the jetty, had hedgehog slice while Mummy and Daddy had coffee and cakes.

Camping on Saturday night was so funny. After we had a wash, we set up 2 torches, and Mummy and Daddy read stories to me, and we were soooo cosy! I finally fell asleep, and didn’t wake up until the morning!

After breakfast on Sunday, we went to a lovely beach in a bay, and Mummy and Daddy swam out to a jetty really far out to sea! I clung onto Daddy’s back on the way there, and Mummy’s on the way back! It was so funny! It was the deepest I have ever been, AND I jumped in!

I had an ice cream before we left – it was so nice, and it was chocolate!

Unfortunately, I was not well on Sunday night, and was sick many times during the night, and Monday morning. My head hurt so much, and we had no more sheets left because I messed them all up! Mummy and Daddy took me to the doctors on Monday, but by Monday afternoon, I was feeling better as I tried so hard to drink water, even though I didn’t feel like it! Daddy won me a tiger at the festival, and the tiger looked after me while I was not well. I love him.

C: The food at the festival was so nice! Such a treat, and pretty cheap! Aiysha slept so well in our tent, and in the middle of the night, she shouted “No, I don’t want to go camping!” It was so funny, as it was so untrue! We asked her about what she said in the morning, and she had no idea! She was so brave swimming out to the jetty on Sunday! I also found what looked like a piece of seaweed, but when Steve squeezed it, it oozed some jelly like substance – Aiysha was fascinated, as were we, and asked us to find more! We couldn’t find any, which was a shame.

S: Hmmm, Mandurah seems very suburban! The campsite was nice, and we rushed around trying to get all the equipment that we needed. All we forgot was a mallet, which is pretty important when setting up a tent. We managed to borrow one though, so that was lucky. The festival was out of crabs by the time we got there! Couldn’t believe it! Oh well, there was loads of other treats. Claire and I had the worst 2 drinks possible for camping – Beer and Coffee, and we did end up regretting it! What were we thinking?! On Sunday, we had a gorgeous full English on a pier! Amazing! Watched a little bit of the circus while we waited for Claire to find us, as we lost each other, and then tucked into more gorgeous food when we came back from the beach!

Aiysha was so brave when she was not well! We were so proud of her, and she knew when she needed to sleep. We were pretty worried at one stage on Monday when she wouldn't drink, but she tried so hard, and earned treats while she drank! Not a nice end to a lovely weekend.

2006-03-07 Rotto!

A: I had 3 days with Mummy, Daddy, and we did soooo much! After my tennis on Saturday, we all went to Kalamunda Wet and Wild, where I went with Daddy on the biggest slide I have ever been on! I thought it was a little fun, but it was mostly scary! Daddy says he was not scared, but I think he was, especially when we slid almost upside-down in the tunnel! We went to The Bennion Café for dinner, and saw the most amazing sunset. Mummy and I watched it for ages while our gorgeous food was being prepared!

On Sunday, we went to swim at Joondalup Arena. The last time I was there was when Grandma Sue and I went into the waterfall, and the river! I went in line to go on the slide with Mummy, but just as I got to the top, they closed it for an emergency. I was very sad.

On Monday, I helped Daddy cycle around Rottnest Island on my trailer bike! Mummy kept on overtaking us – she’s a cheeky one! We visited 3 beaches – my favourite was Armstrong where I built my sandcastle. It was such a funny day, and I met a girl called Ella on Little Parakeet beach, and we attacked Daddy, who was a shark. I did some really good swimming in the sea! I think the sea is getting less scary…

I had loads of ice creams this weekend – I think Mummy and Daddy forgot they got me so many, and kept on buying me more!

I have been watching David Attenborough’s insect programme on TV – it is amazing!

C: What a great long weekend.... very very hot! We even had to eat our mango pancakes inside!! Aiysha now wants to marry daddy and I have been relegated to position of bridesmaid L She has told me that she is going to be an even more beautiful bride than mummy!!

S: Had our touch rugby night out – I really cannot drink much alcohol, no matter how much training I do! Some wicked slides at Wet’n’Wild, the speed slide was excellent, but the water went straight up your nose! Really good to watch the touch rugby state finals. Rottnest was fantastic – snorkelling was amazing – some huge fish, including parrot fish, and Claire saw a Catfish! Felt like we were on holiday!

Meals: Ceasar Salad/Fish/Thai Fish Cakes, Steamed Skate, Hot Pepper Prawns, Lettuce Pancakes, Mango Pancakes

2006-03-02 Certificate!

A: I had my best swimming lesson yesterday, and got my certificate for a 10m swim with no floats! YEAH! Mummy was so proud of me, and I was proud of myself! I am a big girl now. Daddy measured me last weekend, and I am now 102cm tall! Now that is big!

C: I was so proud!

Meals: Chicken wings, pizza, moon noodles
