2008-05-13 My First School Certificate and Mother's Day

Aiysha:
I got presented my first school certificate for Indonesian on Friday, but it was a bit different. Mummy, Daddy and Clogger came to see me get it from Mr. Pond, the headmaster. There was a performance of "You Think You Can Dance" by year 5, and it was really good. Daddy liked the hip-hop, Mummy liked the ballet, and I thought the boys dressed as ballet dancers were really funny! After that Mr. Pond announced each of the certificates in turn, but my name wasn't called! I could see Mummy and Daddy were very upset, and they both went to speak to Mr. Pond, and at the end of the assembly, I had to collect my certificate in front of the school on my own! It was very special, and a bit scary! Mummy and Daddy were relieved, and at the end I had my photo taken with Mr. Pond.

It was Mothers Day on Sunday, and I made Mummy open all of our presents! She got an oil/vinegar pourer from Clogger and some teaspoons, and I gave her a big ice-cream scooper, and some teaspoons! I also made her lots of artwork from school. I bought her a heart shaped mirror key ring from the school shop, the same one I gave Daddy. Where has that gone?

We went for a ride along Matilda Bay to a coffee shop on the river, but it was closed! So we had to go to the Matilda Bay cafe, and had cakes, ice-cream and coffee. Daddy let Clogger get wet, and he got in trouble from Mummy. It was fun! I also climbed some really tall trees along the river too!

We picked a whole bucket full of lemons from our own tree! Wow! Lucky we got another fridge!

Clara: I loved getting soaked at Matilda Bay, and I loved Daddy's milkshakes! I absolutely love Softy and Lucy! I cannot go anywhere without them! I take such good care if them, and I cry whenever I cannot reach them! They are my little sisters!

C: I had a lovely Mothers Day! The weather was lovely, and we had such a nice time on our bikes.

S: Clara was so nice to me this weekend - she came to me for everything! She's a clever one!

Our oven packed in last week, so we spent Saturday looking for an oven. Claire got an unexpected Mothers Day present! More cakes for us now!

2008-05-05 Beach in May?

Aiysha: We went to the beach, and it is meant to be winter! It was such a lovely weekend, and the sun was shining so much. On Saturday I did my swim, and in the afternoon we went for a bike ride to Neil Hawkins park. The lake seems to be growing a lot of red plants, which looks amazing. On Sunday, it was even hotter, and after my tennis lesson with Daddy, we went in the afternoon to the beach with our wetsuits! The waves were really big - Daddy said it was a 3m swell, whatever that means, but I know the waves were big, and I was a little scared. I did some boarding, then we played catch, then we did some catching with the ball. Clogger did so well walking - the last time we went to the beach she couldn't walk too well, but today she went off on her own, and chased us around! She a funny one!

Daddy took me out on Satuday night to Western Force vs Chiefs, and it was the best game - we won by one point in the last minute! We tried to go for Macdonalds after, as we never ever go, and I chose to go there, but it was closed :-( Daddy found us a Hungry Jacks just before it closed, and we sat in town eating it - it was so funny! We got a chocolate bar after, and we walked to the station. We played hangman on the way home, which was really funny!

Clogger: I can walk on the sand so easily now! It was brilliant! I can go wherever I like, and I can chase Aiya!

C: May is not so bad! Still no fires yet! We have a fireguard though!

S: Huge waves! Quite scary, surprising for Mullaloo!

2008-04-27 Camping on Mummy's Birthday

Aiysha:
Camping is so much fun! We drive out past Wannaroo to the Chittering Valley where we stayed on a farm! We put our tent up in the same field as all the sheep, but they went somewhere else during the night. We went to a Vineyard for dinner after Daddy almost drove over the tent, and it was lovely. It got very cold as it got dark. I had fish and chips, Daddy had a steak, and Mummy had calamari. It was far too much for us all so we didn't have pudding.

We got back to the tent in the dark, and we climbed in. Daddy managed to get Clogger to sleep, and we stayed up playing Uno, which was funny! I won most of the games. In the night, I went to the toilet about 4 times, and Daddy came with me - the stars were amazing!

In the morning, we tried to find somewhere to have breakfast in Bindoon, but there was nothing! So in the end, we went to a bakery, and got some cakes! Yummie!

We drove back, and it only took 45 minutes, but it seemed like we were a long way from home.

I liked going to Marcel's house, because I met Jamie and Ben, and we played basketball and on the trampoline - it was funny! We also ate barbecue dinosaur...

Clogger: They took me to a strange place, to a strange house, to sleep in a strange bed. Me no like.

C: Brrrr! Cold camping, but fun in the end!

S: Some great piccies, and some amazing stars! A long time since we'd seen stars like that! We went for a barbie at Marcel's house, and it felt like we ate a dinosaur! The ribs were huge!

2008-04-01 3 Certificates in 3 days!

Aiysha: I am so proud of myself, I received 3 certificates in 3 days! Mummy got a call from Edgewater Primary who told her that I will be presented a certificate in front of the whole school for my Indonesian! Also, I got a swimming certificate from my school swimming, AND I got another one from State Swim - one of two certificates as part of the Dolphin group! Mummy, Daddy, and Cloggy were so proud of me, and we did a toast! They are all going to come to my school assembly in May too! I am so excited!

I also went lawn bowling with Daddy's work, and it was really fun! We had lots of sausages, and I even won a game!

Clogger: I understand what people say now. I tell them I understand by nodding my head, and I do it all the time! It makes everyone laugh that I nod my head at most things, but I am now communicating with everyone, and it makes me so happy! They don't have to guess what I want now, I am so happy!

C: Clara is so clever now - she nods every time we ask her a question, and is so happy that we understand her! A lot less tanty's!

S: When I asked Clara whether she knew Pythagoras' Theorem, she nodded! Amazingly clever girl!

2008-03-28 The Lyons Visit

Aiysha:
I love it when everyone comes to visit me! Grandma Sue and Grey Furby came for 6 weeks, which was amazing! We did so many things!

We spent so much time in the pool, it was lovely!

I had my last 3 lessons of cricket, and Grandma and Grandpa came to watch me - I tried my best, and I really enjoyed it! I'm still not sure if I really like it, but I will decide next year.

Grandma and Grandpa taught me how to skip - they held each end, and I was in the middle, and they counted for me. They also taught me "England Ireland Scotland Wales" with 2 chairs. Since then, I can now do fast skipping, and I will be doing it with Daddy soon! I can't wait!

We had an Australian breakfast near Hillary's when Lizzie was here, and it was fun! We packed up all our stuff, and we went as soon as we got up!

Grandma and Grandpa took me out to dinner too, which was so much fun! We went to Hillary's Marina, and I chose to have fish and chips! It was fantastic. It was such a special time for me, as I hardly get to go out without Mummy and Daddy. We got home quite late, but Mummy and Daddy didn't mind.

All the Lyonses went to Penguin Island! Clogger didn't come with us - she had to stay with Daddy. We saw seals, and also a man rescuing a pelican which had a broken wing. Poor birdie!

Clara: I learned to walk while Grandma and Grandpa stayed with us! They were so helpful, and supported me so much!

I had a lovely birthday party - everyone got presents that day, and I had a lovely cake which Mummy made for me. Aiya got a surprise present, but we still do not know who it is from! It was a carrier for her iPod, and it had hearts on it!

C: We became Australian Citizens at a ceremony in Joondalup! We met the Mayor, and we all got gifts. Clara was not too happy, but we all managed to get in the photo!

2008-01-30 Grandma Sik and Grandpa Brian

Aiysha:
I was so looking forward to seeing Grandma and Grandpa! They bought so many books and toys for me and Clogger, it was great! We did lots of walking around the lake, and we went to the beach too! We did lots of swimming in the pool, and I finally managed to get Grandad in the pool pretty soon after they arrived! We played piggy in the middle, had mango milkshakes, and we found a huge bees nest when we walked round the lake.

I loved Grandma's cooking, and they both did lots to our garden - they cut all the roses, trimmed all the trees, and Grandad made a pyramid for our boganvilias! Very clever man. He also tried to teach me Sudoku, but it was a sneaky trick to have a laugh with him.

Grandad liked watching the cricket, and the tennis! We watched some wonderful games, especially the final between Tsonga and Dokovic - that was amazing, and I stayed up to watch the whole match. Dokovic won in the end, as I said he would. Everyone else wanted Tsonga, and Daddy kept on making silly jokes with his name. Not funny Daddy!

Clara: Grandma makes me laugh so much, especially when she tickles me with her nose! She is a funny one!
