2017-01-28 Australia Day, Yanchep - Nice to be home!

Clara: Went to Connolly to help Mummy. On Saturday went to beach with Daddy - we did swimming, skimmer ball, then went for a run because we were planning to take Mummy to Yanchep for a BBQ. Went home, and I helped Mummy with her school stuff while Daddy fixed the frog house lights. Watched a bit of tennis, went in the pool, then went to Yanchep for a BBQ.

Kookaburra came and stole my sausage, loads of Kangaroos, played Rummikub which I won, and there was a thunderstorm - it was cool. Daddy got attacked by a moth that I held - it was really big!

When we came back we made Mango Mookieshakes, and sat in the frog house until late now that Daddy fixed the lights - it was fun!

We've already been on a 6km run which I found hard, but glad I did it, and we have had two games of tennis since we have been back - it has been fun!

Aiysha: Loved seeing Casey and Sean again - mixture of going to Watertown and going to the beach.

On Australia Day we went to the beach which was the hottest Australia Day for a long time - up to 42 degrees! We were not planning on going to the fireworks, but they ended up being cancelled because a small plane crashed into the Swan river in the afternoon - we saw it on TV, and it didn't look too bad, but the two people unfortunately died. What a sad day :(

I went to Casey's place for he brother's pre-ball party - apparently over 50 people were going, which was a surprise to Casey's parents - stress!

I'm happy - it is raining really heavy - so I won't be going to Rottnest unfortunately on Sunday.

C: So nice to be warm again! The Australian Open is amazing this year - Federer and Nadal in the final!

S: Ah, the pool! The girls took me on a few small runs, then a 6km, then a beach run - my ribs have held up pretty well - still popping occasionally, but not nearly as painful.

The tennis has been amazing!

2017-01-19 Our UK Tour - Part 5: Leicester To Perth

Well, our last few days in England. We all cannot believe we almost have to go back to Perth - we do wish we could stay longer.

Highlights:
  1. Seeing everyone again!
  2. Bradgate Park
  3. Clearing out the junk in Lutterworth
  4. Running with Mummy
  5. Shopping at Fosse Park
  6. Looking after Bella
  7. Showing Grandma Sik photos and videos of us skiing
  8. Visiting Grandma Sik and getting free cake!
Hutch was meant to come over for one day, but he ran out of time. Also, Daddy was meant to go and see his friend Dave up on Rotherham, but he couldn't because of his ribs. What a shame!

Saying goodbye was really hard for everyone - it was such an amazing time, and everyone had so much fun, mishaps and all. We have been really lucky to spend so much time with our families in England, and we are already planning our next trip back - in the Summer! Wahoo!

Thank you everyone for such an amazing holiday - see you soon!

2017-01-15 Our UK Tour - Part 4: Les Gets

Wow, what a crazy ski trip! At first, we didn't think we were going to have any snow, and we were constantly looking at the snow reports in England and Amsterdam. When we arrived, there was enough to open a lot of the runs, so we were soooo lucky!

We arrived on Sunday morning, and we managed to get our taxi ride to the chalet so we would be able to do some snowboarding as soon as we got there!

We met out hosts - Kat and Lloyd, and it was owned by Rafaelle and Jana who also met us - they were all amazing, and the food was astounding! Pictures to follow from Dave's camera!

We settled in, and we went straight out to get our equipment. We had a few issues with getting the right shoe sizes, and then we headed to the nursery slopes for Paish to start her snowboard journey! Daddy stayed with Paish, and Mummy took Roxy on the blue runs coming down to the cafe - it was soooooo nice to be in the snow again. Snow was forecast for the week, and by Thursday there was a huge dump of snow - amazing, and how lucky!

Dave, Sue and Arthur arrived at around 4.30pm, and we had a lovely afternoon tea of cookies and sandwiches before we tucked into our first dinner. We were all soooo excited!

Paishy did sooo well all week - we would have a small session in the morning, and then she would go to her lesson, and then put everything into practice in the afternoon - by the end she was able to do wide carving, turning, leafing, and flats without wiping out! Amazing, and much better than Mummy and Daddy! The only day Paishy did not enjoy it was on Saturday when everyone went to Morzine and there were a lot of flats - ah man!

Roxy went from strength to strength, and was looking like a pro by the end of the week - rising and dropping on her turns, and following how Mummy does her skiing. She passed her next level easily, and was one of the best in the class. Well done Rox!

Mummy was typically good again, looking incredibly elegant as she came down the slopes. She loved every minute of being on the slopes. She loved speeding down some hard runs in Morzine and Les Gets with Daddy in the mornings, and could not wait until they went further out! Unfortunately, due to Daddy's accident, that didn't happen. She did see Daddy wipe out once on a block of ice, and Daddy's video camera went flying - funny!

Dave still working on his form, but getting there. However, on the first day on his first wipe out he pulled his calf! Unbelievable, considering we all talked about taking it easy on the first day! He was upset, but we all advised him that if he treated it right, he'd be able to ski towards the end of the week. By Wednesday, he was able to! Wahoo! As Daddy was out of action, Uncle Dave took us round the mountains, and it was really fun! Well done Uncle Dave for healing your leg so quickly!

Daddy loved being back on the snowboard, and started doing a few jumps here and there to practice the tricks he was looking at on YouTube. Halfway through though Daddy broke his rib when his phone in his front pocket crushed it when he knelt down waiting for Paish at the top of a slope. He was very upset, and could not believe how silly that accident was to put an end to his trip. Just when Uncle Dave got up and running too! He spent the rest of the week walking on Groundhog Trail, and was joined by Sue and Arthur, and Mummy on the last day which was lovely, even though they almost missed the last lift home!

Sue and Arthur did a lot of walking all week - it was a beautiful place to walk, but limited trails! They loved the spa which they went in every day of the week, and loved the food that was served.

In the evenings we did a mixture of games - wierd words, scrabble (er, sort of), photo competition (on the last night), poker, watched one of Dave's rugby games, and just chatted.
