2019-01-29 Back Home to Perth

So nice to be warm again. We had a nice flight to Dubai, the movie selection was good, and the flight from Dubai to Perth was pretty cramped, and we slept most of the way.

Spent most of the day unpacking and then we carried on with out Photo Comp voting which was funny, as only Rox and Paish had pictures of animals.

We got our uniforms and stationary for Mater Dei, and we ended the day at the beach, followed up by sweet sauce chicken. Paish unfortunately lost a Primark earring :-(.

What an amazing holiday, and we're all gearing up now for another year in sunny Perth! Yay!

2019-01-20 La Tania!

What an awesome ski holiday, and no one got injured, well, not seriously! We had so many laughs, and it was crazy both with the amount of time we spent on the mountain and some of the weather we had.

The best weather days were Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday where we pretty much had clear skies. Monday and Thursday were pretty hideous white-out days and it was very scary when you didn't know if you were going uphill or downhill. It was fun all the same, and gave us an excuse to keep doing the Arolles to Plan Fontain routes down so we could do some off piste fun!

The very best day was the last day - Saturday - where we went up to Mont Vallon and had some crazy red runs down - it was so much fun, and we bombed down the mountain like it was, er, the last day - and it was! There were some tricky moments - Aiysha down the steep slope, Daddy wiped out massively on the Plan Fountain on a flat, and Dave got stuck losing one of his skis on a very steep part of the mountain which was hilarious. Clara finally found her form and also bombed down the slopes which was awesome.

Mummy twisted here knee early on, so had to borrow Dad's knee brace for the rest of the trip.

Paish and Daddy had some snowboard lessons from Josh who had some amazing tips on technique and for the snow park! On the last day we nailed our jumps!

Lizzie and Nick took turns on alternate days, and Bella did amazing in her first lessons. Max was cute as ever and liked destroying the chalet which was funny. "Baby Shark, do do do...".

Sue and Arthur enjoyed their walking, and they got up to Mont Vallon several times.

Mid-week had a lovely dinner out - Raclette, and it was soooo cold walking to and from the restaurant. We also had some lovely self-bought lunches - soup, cheese and sausage and baguette. We didn't manage to find any celeri-rappee, but got some on the way to the airport which was lovely.

We had an amazing tour back to the airport with a guy who home-schools and lives in La Tania, can ski to his house, and tried to buy a house on the lake but it was a tad expensive. He was lovely though.

Good/Funny moments:
  • Snowboarders never making it on the flat on Plan Fountain
  • Tree-hugging Steve, and then Dave
  • Being late for 9am lifts (not quite so funny, but funny as we were always late for different reasons!)
  • Being late for our snowboard lessons
  • Carnage on Plan Fountain
  • Lunch on top of the world!
  • Andy's dinners in the chalet
  • Drone footage
  • Nick's toes
  • 3 coincidental meetings by chance on the mountain
  • Beginner snowboarder leafing down red runs from Mont Vallon
  • Jump fails
