2024-03-04 Wingfoiling in a storm, Long Weekend, We beat Rebels, Year 12 Retreat, Dune: Part 2, Pool Rd 3, Woodshed!

Rox: Year 12 Retreat was so cool!

When I got home on Friday when Mummy was out me and Dad sat and went through all my warm and fuzzies and letter from my fam, and it was so emotional for me to hear those thoughts again.

Paish: We beat the Rebels in our second trial match in Melbourne 38-10, but I felt I did nothing even though I got some mentions in the write up.

Watched it back with Dad, and did a few cool things - I just need to look for the ball more in space! Something to work on! We play them in Round 1 in two weeks.

S: Easterlies on Saturday, and there was a storm coming in, so I headed out to Pinneroo and had the best ocean foiling session ever! And the best thing was there was no one else out! So cool!

Rox joined me on the river on Monday long weekend which was nice, and managed to get some videos of me not quite making a turn!

Saw Henry and Tomoko again for our third round of pool - Harry and Henry won their first game! We won  9-1 in the end though, it was fun!

Started putting together our woodshed today - Grandpa Arthur would have loved this task!

Went to see Dune: Part 2 - Epic!

C: Missed you Rocky Roo! So glad you had a great retreat!

2024-02-27 Trial Match vs Tokyo Japan, States Selection, Match Play vs Peel, Foiling & Turning, Hakuna Lost Semi-Final

Rox:
We had match play against Peel, and after the last scratchie we were a bit nervous, but this time everything clicked, and we finally played our top lineup and smashed them in that quarter 13-3. Now it is starting to get exciting!

There were not too many surprises in the 17U state selection. The 19U was more interesting by far where there were some tight selections.

We had our WAIS dinner, which was really funny. Everyone looked so pretty!

Paish: We played Tokyo Japan, and scored my first try! I loved it! We lost the game though which was a shame. First trial match though.

S: We had our semi-final for Hakuna, and we played the top team (Frank's team), and we were so close! We were down 6-3 at half time, but we came back to 7-6 and I did a last minute interception, but I could not see anyone to pass to and finally went to ground. I scored 2 and set a couple up, and had a blast! I really wanted to win though.

Had a great foil on the river where I finally started turning at ease on my foil - so much fun!

Round 2 with Henry, Tomoko and Harry - Henry and Harry still yet to win a game, so funny!

2024-02-18 WANL Round Robin, State 17s vs Rangers, Pool with Henry & Tomoko, Rosalie Wind Up, I'm 17! Penguin Island!

Rox: We had a trial round robin Friday night WANL vs 4 other teams, and we were unbeaten. It was so much fun, and our team is looking pretty sharp even now. Really looking forward to starting WANL now. It took a bit of time to get use to the pace, but by the second game we were all on fire!

17s were not so sharp when we played Rangers. We won 3 quarters, drew 2 and lost one. We made so many mistakes though which was a worry.

I took George to Yanchep for a BBQ - it was lovely, and he liked it.

Paish: Jason has been in and out of emergency all week, starting to get a little worrying. Second week of prac now, but it has been so hectic.

S: Went out to Varsity to see Henry and Tomoko, which was so nice. We then went to a pool club where me and Tomoko took on Henry and Harry, and we beat them 3-0. Henry in particular was pretty annoyed, and wants a rematch!

It was the Rosalie wind up on Saturday night...

C: Loved seeing you in that Comets team - it's going to be an amazing season! Can't wait!

Went for another paddle board at Penguin Island again on a super-hot day! It was so fun, and I managed to beat the Dodos back to shore, as he kept on nose-diving! Funny!

2024-02-11 Touch State Champs, Year 12 Ball, Photoshoot

Rox: Man it was sooo hot this year that some games were cancelled! It got up to 43 degrees, and we had a crazy amount of games. I was lucky I had my ball on Saturday (plus training plus photoshoot) so I didn't get to play. I stayed up all night, and in the end had about 4 hours sleep before I had to get to touch semi-finals.

We played Freo in the semi-final, and we managed to win convincingly. We ended up playing Goldfields in the final, and even though they started strong with a try off the tap, we came back and won pretty convincingly again, which was great! It was so cool. Quite a few games are on YouTube.

The ball was so much fun though. Crazy times getting ready on the Saturday though.

S: States not so great from the 50s perspective, I struggled all week at physio to heal my quad, which did last the weekend, but our strategy going into the games was terrible. Very disappointing. We didn't win a game. It has to change next year.

2024-01-28 Hot Hike! Steve-Chuan, Penguin Island Paddleboarding, Crazy Interval - 5x1x7

S: We had the best paddle board out to Penguin Island with Rox - we were not allowed on the island as it was too hot, so we sat just drifting around the island watching the pelicans. It was so cool.

Tried a new interval - 5m on, 1m off 7 times - it was brutal! I managed to do it 3 times before states though, which really helped.

C: Went for a really hot hike with the Bau in the hills!

Lovely Steve-Chuan!
