2018-07-12 - Bali: Day 4 - Rafting

How cool is this?!

Idhono picked us up at 9 after we all did 10 steps (apart from Mummy of course - she was relaxing!) - great effort girls, then we all dived into the pool.

Puyang Rapics, Duck was our driver (also met King Kong and Ladyboy after) - amazing countryside, vines, waterfalls and plants all tripping water like rain. It was brilliant fun, even though there were some competitive boats, and also people who liked splashing each other - somewhat ruined the atmosphere. One too many rafters for our liking, but wasn't too off putting. We are unlikely to get another Sarawak canoe trip, so very lucky to be doing this one.

Halfway round, we stopped. It was amazing that we were the only people who decided to swim across the river to another waterfall! We were very proud and adventurous!

There were some amazing carvings on the walls, and the rapids were cool! There were some mysterious temples and rock towers along the way to.

Before we left, we saw a praying mantis fight with a baby snake - one ended up worse off! Crazy driver chatting to me after, and stopped for Mango and Mangosteen on our way back.

We relaxed by the poolside in the afternoon and had a little snooze. We played water boules with rocks which was funny - Paish won, Roxy second and Doody last - boo! Funny game though. Took a slo-mo of a beetle and a mango.

Funny evening shopping and getting some great bargains for some hangings for Daddys team, glass bowl sculptures and recycled wood for our bathroom - strange pricing from two different shop keepers in the same shop! Those Balinese playing tricks on us foreigners!

We hiked miles to a suckling pig place, only to be massively disappointed by a rickety old restaurant with a skinned pigs head on the back table with hardly anyone there. When we asked for suckling pig, the woman used her bare hands to pick up two handfuls of stuff into paper cones. Not nice. Mummy ended up giving it to a beggar placing it next to her to also feed her kids - she loved it!

We struggled to find some food and ended up in a vegetarian health restaurant. It was okay, had pesto and fish (very dry with bones). Missed our taxi, so sat with ice-creams while we waited for taxi, then home. Said our final goodbye to our lovely driver Madi.

A funny day!
