2021-05-29 ACC Cross Country! State vs Freo Sharks, Netball vs Sorrento, Paish Replaces Dad! Storms!

Paish: We had some big storms this week - so big part of our eaves fell in - exciting!

I loved playing Touch this week with Dad's 40s team and Hakuna Matata - I wish I could play more often. Dad's team even voted me in to replace Dad! He wasn't too happy.

I've started changing my sprinting style - it feels a lot better, but I have to work at it!

Rox: I was pretty nervous about ACC Cross Country this week, and Dad and I chatted about my strategy - I was to start off comfortable, and then gradually hit the front. Two days before, I did a 4km run and I felt great. On the day, I felt really good, and pushed as hard as I could. When I finally came in, I placed 22nd out of 350 people! I could not believe it! My time was the fastest Mater Dei girl in the school! Wow, I was so proud!

We played Sorrento top team this week which should have been close but we managed to win pretty well. On Sunday we played Freo Sharks which was Jacinta's team. We did manage to win that fairly easily, and was an easier game than Comets last week. I played C again, so I think they are looking at me playing there.

S: "Big storm coming!", I said.

C: Well done Roxy, well played!

2021-05-23 State vs Comets, Divas vs Cott, First Fire! My first Kmart shift!

Paish: Played against Cottesloe at home this weekend - I was starting at 13 this time which was so exciting. I managed to score a nice try off the kick-off when Pare burst through a couple of tackles, and offloaded. Otherwise, there was a lot of running across which was a shame. I think we could have played a lot better - it seemed pretty messy. It was really wet though, so there were a lot of dropped balls!

Rox: Sunday game against Comets - it was so intense, and I was playing centre! I played C for 4 quarters, and 2 of which we won - it perhaps was the highest level I've played, and I think I did okay. It was such a great experience!

I had my first Kmart shift today - so exciting!

Dad treated me to a Japanese dinner out on Saturday night as Paish and Mum were out having their own dinners! It was soooo yummy! We ordered a bit too much though!

C: So nice having our first fire! It is getting a bit chilly and wet!

2021-05-14 Champion Girl! I'm in the Western Force! TACT Pre-Carnival, Divas vs Kala, Hammers 1 vs 2

Rox: I can't believe it! We had our athletics carnival at Mater Dei, and I got champion girl! I didn't have time to stay for the announcement as I had state training, so my friends sent me messages. It was amazing! I was really happy with my races today:

2nd - 100m

2nd - 200m

1st - 400m

2nd - Relay

I also won the 800m and 1500m and Cross Country in pre-carnival, so that must have helped!

It was such a fun day, and I got to hang around with my friends all day. I also did some field events, but I didn't do too well.

State training was hard too as I was pretty tired - and they were pretty strict. It was fun though. On the Sunday we played the Boys u17 team - they were incredible as they only had 6 players and we had to lend them a player, and Tom even played. We lost to them by quite a bit, which was a very good lesson for us. At one point I fell on one of the boys which was funny. It was great to see Tom!

We had our pre-TACT carnival which was so exciting - it is so close now! We drew against Perth 1st team, but won all the rest. It was great to be with the team again!

At Hammers, we played our 1st team. We managed to get ahead of them in both the first and second quarter, but each time they came back. We were equal at half time (17 all), and I came off in the 3rd quarter, and we lost that quarter badly. The last quarter we kept it the same, so we lost by quite a few - shame, we were so close to winning it!

Paish: I got selected for the Force! Yay! I get my jersey presented to me at the Chiefs vs Force game on Saturday!

We played Kala and they had a fairly depleted team, and we beat them convincingly 31-0. I played 13 in the second half for the first time and really enjoyed it! I managed to set up a couple of tries too - I loved it! Me and Paiho worked so well together.

Dad went with Jenna and we all went for a Chinese beforehand which was yummy!

C: Another amazing week girls - Champion Girl AND Western Force - wow!

S: Great news guys, and your hard work is paying off! Well done both of you, amazing job!

It was fun watching the game with Jenna!

2021-05-09 I'm In The State Team! Paish Playing Centre For First Time, Fever vs Swifts, Mothers Day

Rox: We had the final training for the State u15s team on Friday and on Sunday, and I thought I played pretty well in both. The final team was announced on Sunday at 12pm, and I was in it! I could not believe it! I was so happy! Looks like a really good team too! We're going to be flying to Karratha to play a northern tournament, which will be awesome!

We played Chevy's Woola Woola team on Saturday, and it was pretty much neck and neck at the end of the third quarter, and then we managed to pull away in the final quarter though - it was such a fun game to play.

I then walked over to watch Paish play centre, but I missed most of it, but she seemed very pleased with the way she played - I could see why on the video - she was awesome!

Daddy and Paish decided to join me and Mummy at the Fever game in the evening, and it was so funny! Fever won on the last couple of minutes, but the whole night was very funny, we had lots of laughs.

Paish planned our Mother's Day picnic to the river! It was so nice! Well done Paish, Callie loved it!

Paish: I was a bit nervous this weekend as I may be playing centre. Dad and I went out on Friday night to run through a few things which really settled my nerves, and I was moved to centre 10 minutes from half time. Man, it was the most fun 2nd half ever! I concentrated on my angles like Dad said, and I was involved in 3 really good tries, one I set up for Paiho where I took out 3 defenders - the crowd was very appreciative! I can't wait to play there again!

S: Amazing start at centre Paish - you were born to play there! Just like your Dad!

Absolutely amazing Rox getting into the touring team!

Released Inner Moment to Spotify this week!

C: Well done girls, it is so much fun watching you guys!

So proud of you Roxy Roo getting in to the touring squad - brilliant!

2021-04-27 Mummy's 50th! First States Training Outdoors!

C: I'm 50! Wahoo! I had so many treats for my birthday, including going out to C restaurant, lots of pressies, and our house decorated with 50 pictures, balloons, flowers and streamers! It was so nice.

We did have a lockdown, but managed to get to Hillary's Dog beach over the weekend though which was nice. The girls and Daddy organised a whole trip for us to spend the night in Freo and the spend the day in Rottnest, but that was cancelled. We get a credit for the trip and hotel though, so we can use it again!

Rox: Happy Birthday Mummy, you are the best! So sad we could not get away, but we had fun anyway!

We had our first States training, but because of COVID we had to do this outdoors, which was strange.

Paish: Happy Birthday Mummy, you don't seem 50 at all!

S: Happy Birthday Moomy! Hope you had a lovely birthday!

Dave helped Grandad tidy the barn room - it looks amazing now!

2021-04-20 I'm In The State Netball Squad!

Rox: On Sunday we had our first trials for the State U15 Squad. I didn't expect to get through as I am a year younger than most of the girls, but I managed to trial well and got through on Sunday which I was really pleased about. Everything from here would be a bonus! On Monday, we had a morning of trials before another cut, and then an afternoon session. I think I played pretty well in the morning in both C and WA, and managed to get through the next round! Chevy also got through, and most of the U12 state team. In the afternoon, we were all pretty tired, and I ended up played so many quarters, including the last 2 sessions which are normally the cutski people, so I thought I was not going to make it. However, the next morning Mummy rang us to say I made it! I was so happy!

Me and Dad went to Yello for coffee and muffins while Mummy was out with her friends at C restaurant celebrating her 50th birthday! Yummy!

Paish: While everyone was out having cakes, I was at work - poor Me! Well done Rox - so proud of you!

C: What a treat at C restaurant with all my friends! Thank you! Well done Rox, amazing job getting into the State u15 team!

S: What a star Roxy Roo!

2021-04-05 Our First Beach Drive, Mullaloo Surfing, Easter, Kmart Job!

Rox: We've just had the most awesome start to the Easter Holidays!

First I had a sleepover straight after school on Thursday, and came back late Friday, then on Saturday we packed up and went to Lancelin to try out beach driving! Paish had to study which was a shame, as we brought all our surfing gear. We left around 11am, and got there at around 1pm, let our tyres down, and headed out - man it was so much fun!

We are trying out Callie between our rooms now - the crate has moved out, and she loves her bed, even though she doesn't stay in it.

We went to Mullaloo surfing on Sunday too - the waves seemed flat to start with, then as we got in they seemed huge! Then we started surfing them, and we found out they were possibly the best waves we've see at Mullaloo - we stayed for over 2 hours! It was so much fun!

We are going again on Monday - hope it is the same!

I went for an interview at Kmart where Paish works, and I got the job! How exciting! I can't wait to earn my own money!

Paish: Had a birthday party on Saturday night which was so much fun, but I'm studying a lot now as I have assessments. Rugby season starts next week, so am trying to get fitter, but it is hard after all the fitness we did at States.

C: Loved the walk at Trigg Bush - a new one we haven't been on - a bit short, but very nice, and we had nice coffee and ended up on Trigg Dog Beach anyway. We also had a lovely walk on Iluka at sunset with Callie.

I loved driving on the beach! Was a bit scared to drive myself though!

S: I started off Easter with a walk with Callie at Quinns Rocks - we did 12 uphills, a swim, then a walk - it was lovely!

Driving on sand is cool!

Surfing was so much fun! We both really found our form!

2021-03-28 State Titles Touch Championships! Indoor Netball Final! Dumplings!

The wait is finally over! The weekend is here! We have been training like crazy over the past few weeks and played a few scratch games - such as Rosalie Mens 40s vs Brothers WO, and round robins in 40 degree heat, and hopefully all was worth it.

Friday

We all started on the Friday. Dad had 2 games - 1.30pm (ECU) and 5pm (Northern). They lost 10-8 against ECU, and 7-2 against Northern. They unfortunately didn't execute as well as they should have. Dad scored 4 in the first one, and 1 in the second one. Dad played on the wing, and did really well getting through the two games considering his injury concerns!

We played against Southern who won it last year, and we beat them 10-4 - it was so exciting! We played really well, and did some excellent plays.

Crazy Saturday for Roxy!

On Saturday we started early. We played Northern and beat them 9-6. Rhythm and Selina both played which was funny, and it was a pretty tough game! We then played Tompkins at 12.30, and lost to them by 1 point. It was such an exciting game and we were disappointed to lose.

Dad played Geraldton just before our game, and he managed to score 4 more tries to win 8-4 - sounded like a fun game!

We then had to rush off after getting an amazing pulled pork burger up to Joondalup to play Roxy's Indoor Netball Final for Full Court Teal against Golden Girls. It was a really close game, and it was delayed so we were not sure if we could stay to the end. However, we did in the end, and we won it by around 4 goals - it was great to win it, but we didn't get to stay for the presentations as we had to rush down again for the last games at 4.30.

Dad went to watch his team lose to Southern 4-2 - the most disappointing game ever as we were so much better than them. We played Rosalie, and luckily I didn't have to play, and Paish rested her back. We won easily 9-3 though.

What a day!

Sunday

We started early on Sunday again. Dad had a bye on Sunday morning, so came to watch our game against Freo - we lost pretty badly to them 8-3, but we knew we would meet them in the semis. We played them in the semi at the same time as Dad, and even though it was a much closer game, they were the better side and beat us 11-6. We were pretty upset to be out, but in the end we did so well with such a new young team. Can't wait to next year already!

Dad had a really exciting game against Northern - they were 4-0 down, and came back to 4-3, and could have won if they had a couple of minutes to go! He did manage to score though. Daddy's team should have won considering the number of chances they had.

Daddy scored 10 tries in total throughout the weekend, which was amazing.

We all stayed for the final - Tompkins won the Women's against Freo, and Brother's lost to Freo which was an amazing game. And finally, Rox and Dad finished off the week going to dumplings at Authentic Bites - what a way to finish!

We all cannot believe Dad got through all the games - that was truly a medical miracle. Well done everyone, it was an amazing weekend! We are all sad that it is over.

Dad's Team: Luke, Grant, Brent, Willsy, Spence, Dutts, James, Tim, Geoff, Rhys, Chey, Tom, Dave, Wade, Sean, Luigi, Jamie, Me

2021-03-16 Sunset Week at Trigg, Quinns, City Beach

Lot's of beaches this week! It was gorgeous! Quinns, Trigg and City Beach all in one week! On City Beach we had our favourite takeaway pizza's from Boulevard Pizzas!

Paish: I played in my first rugby league tournament this weekend for Aotearoa Qweenz, a team with a few of my Brothers touch players who play for Ellenbrook - they are such a nice team and pretty exciting to play with. Amy, Rae, Kayleigh and Paihou were also in the team which allowed me to relax a little. I started out on the wing, but gradually got moved into the centre.

Dad and I went down on Friday - we left a little late, went to the 4WD Supercentre to pick up our rescue tow bar attachment, and then we went to dumplings! They were so nice, and we made sure we sent Mummy and Rox a piccie! When we arrived at our house in Jecks Road, we headed out to Safety Bay for a bit of windsurfing. The wind was a bit light, but Daddy managed to get a few good runs in. Mum and Rox came arrived at around 8ish, and we had fried rice for dinner - yummy!

On Saturday we had 3 games that started at 9.30, and finished around 2pm. The first game was against Nicole's team, and we won it by one try - it was really close! The next two we won fairly easily.

On Sunday, we had our final pool game which we won to be top of the table. That allowed us to rest until 1pm where we played our semi-final against team we hadn't played before, and then we played the final against Nicole's team again! They scored first, but we then hit back with 3 tries. I played pretty well, but had a chance to score a try in the last minute, but I dropped the ball! ARRRRRGGGHHH! We won the final though which was soooo cool!

It was so much fun though. Kay came down on Saturday to watch too which was so nice. We played Texas Hold'em at night after dinner.

Rox: So proud of you Paish! It was so great to watch you play so well!

I had my netball game on Saturday against Ballz - a must win game if we were going to make finals! We lost to them by one point before, so we were taking no chances! I played WD all game, and loved playing with Giorgia who played GD all game. We managed to keep them out pretty well, and let our attack do the rest. In the end, we won 45-17 - we played amazing, and showed them how well we can actually play! Let's hope we can smash them if we meet them in the final, but we will be without Rhythm and myself! What a shame, but we will both be playing State Touch.

We got back at around 5.30pm on Sunday, and Aaliyah, Clara, Nikita and Charlette came round for my party at around 6.30pm. We hit the pool and had takeaway pizzas too - it was so much fun, and Kay and Paish joined us later in the pool. The pool was 34 degrees too! We then came in and crashed in the games room - we were all pretty tired by 12 amazingly.

Monday was a public holiday, and was pouring with rain. We decided to go to Laser Tag - we didn't do too well, but it was fun! I came second in our group, but our team came last - boo! We came back and played Cluedo which was funny - Aaliyah just won, as I also guessed the same as her!

They all left at 4pm - I really enjoyed it - thank you guys for coming!

C: Callie Wally Cheeky Monkey Dog on Friday night! Barked all night and kept everyone awake!

Amazing result Rox, and fantastic tournament Paish - so proud of both of you!

What a fun mini-break!

S: I like rugby league a little better when Paishy plays - well done Paish, very impressive first try at NRL. Roxy Roo, you did good!

Windsurfing was fun on Jason's board (121 litre), and after 20 minutes of getting used to it, I was fine - I just wish I had a bit more wind. On Saturday, I only had a couple of runs before it got dark. On Sunday, we did a bit of a tour around the beaches - Secret Harbour was amazing for surf - we gotta come down here. Warnbro Sound was really flat - great for dog walking.

A really fun, but exhausting weekend!

2021-02-14 My 14th Birthday, Valentine's Day, Lockdown!

Rox: I had my favourite meal out for my birthday! Dim Sum! Was a bit of a crazy day though, and it was Chinese New Year! Luckily we have just come out of lockdown!

We had touch training in the morning, and Aiysha and I drove straight to Dim Sum. Lucky we did that as we got a ticket pretty early, and just as Mummy and Daddy arrived, we got a table! It was so yummy! I had all my favourites, well mainly Shanghai dumplings and char siu buns. It was perfect, but had to digest it all before my Hammersley trials at 6pm. I think in the end I did pretty well in the trials.

Paish: Well, States have been postponed until 26 March, almost 6 weeks away! It was a pretty good thing though, as it allows us to get things right, play a couple of scratch games, and get fitter!

We played a scratch game against Daddy's Rosalie 40s mens team - they only had a couple of subs, and Daddy had to pull out as he felt his hamstring in the warm up. However, it didn't stop them from playing really well, and we lost around 6-2 over 4 10 minute quarters. It was really hot, but showed us that we had a lot to work on.

Happy Birthday Rox!

C: I do like lockdown! Means one less week at school! Happy Birthday Rox!

S: So lucky states was postponed! Gives me more time to get overly injuries! I did my calf during some uphill running which was really annoying - I thought I was definitely out, but now I think I can make it!

Hope you had an awesome birthday Rox!

2021-01-28 Our New Prado!

Wow, it took a while and a bit of negotiation, but we finally have our new Prado, and in the same week we got rid of our Captiva by driving around Wangara to the garages and making some offers! What a relief! Can't wait to take it on its first beach drive - exciting!

Lots and lots of touch practice - fitness, running through moves, passing! Just another 6 weeks to go!
