2021-09-26 Metro Final, Maori Tournament, Burns Beach Walk

Rox: We had the Metro final against Freo, and we expected it to be tougher than the round game we played against them and won easily. After the first quarter, we were up by a couple, and by half time, we were up by 4 or 5. We missed a few shots, but they were playing pretty well too. However, in the second half, we decided to shift it up a couple of gears, and by the end, we more than doubled their score and won 63-26! It was quite a transformation, and they must have been a little disappointed after being so close at half time. It definitely is one of the best teams I've ever played in!

And then...

What a weekend playing the Maori Tournament (created and organised by my touch coach Petreece years ago)! It was played at Lesmurdie Recreation Centre out in Kalamunda, and the weather was pretty rainy. I was playing for Chevy's team, and it was such a young team. Luckily our games somehow avoided the worst downpours, and we managed to win all our games on Day 1. On Day 2, the canteen ran out of Dagwood dogs by 11am! How will they cope? We managed to win all our games on Day 2 and made the final against the team who won it last year and who were all 17 year olds! In the end we only lost by a couple, but we gave them an awesome run for their money! I also got selected into the All Stars team which was lovely, and I got a lovely medal to show for it.

C: It was such a fun tournament to watch - your team played so well Rox! We finished the weekend off with a lovely walk at Burns Beach with the Bowster!

S: Crazy tournament, how we avoided the rain I will never know. So much fun!
