2021-01-02 Wave Rock to Esperance

We woke up to thunder and lightening this morning - the girls were in the swag, so hope they were cosy! It was so cool and it lasted for a long time! Callie slept between us all night which was pretty cool and she was so happy. After breakfast, Dad drove round to check on the girls - they were still in their swag, but packed up quickly and headed back to our donga. We packed up, and headed out to Mulka’s Cave and The Humps - the cave was a slight disappointment, but the walk over The Humps was amazing! We got some drone footage as the girls were learning how to fly it, and we walked all the way up and around the top. The wind was crazy, but it was fun and we got some great photos. Mummy luckily went back with Callie as it was away too windy for a puppy!

We then set off to Esperance, stopping for a break in a couple of towns on the way which was cool - very sleepy. I made the mistake of not getting a meat pie - they were amazing! I did get some boiled sweets though - amazing! We chatted pretty much from lunch all the way to Esperance which was very funny.

We arrived just before sunset, and it was pretty cloudy and very windy. Our house was luxurious! It was so tidy and very cosy! It even had a log fire! We tried to find Spudilicious, but in the end went for a Chinese takeaway which was yummy. Ended up playing Brag all night with a late night Maccas run for pudding! Funny!

2021-01-01 Lancelin, 20km in 2 weeks, Reticulation, New Years Eve, We're Off!

Rox: We did another barefoot run this morning - 5km. So in the last 2 weeks, we've done 6km, 3km, 3km, 4km, 5km and some other intervals - that is amazing, and my knees didn't hurt! It was fun too, and not that tiring!

We then spent some time on the reticulation, then we drove up to Lancelin only to discover it was mot idea for surfing at all - way too windy and choppy! We went for a walk on the beach after getting milkshakes and coffees, and then went for our picnic. We then headed back to Perth after lunch, stopping off at Ledge Point for a look - not that much there, but some nice houses. Walked Callie and Bella at Emerald - saw Bonnie, Winston, and a few other small dogs which was fun.

Bella's last night! It's been fun having her around!

Paish: Crazy night - came in at around 4am and up at around 8am to help pack. I was a bit tired, so no driving for me today! It was a fun festival though.

C: It has been funny having another dog in the house!

S: This morning's barefoot run was the best yet! We didn't feel like it, but when we got going, it was pretty fast! Well done Rox, amazing!

Man, this reticulation has been a pain for weeks now, and we finally got it all working - pressure and a new Wifi controller! Genius! We seemed to replace the sprinkler next to the step in the back garden, and it all of a sudden the pressure was back!

-----------------------------------

Paish was out celebrating NYE and came back at around 4am - she was up around 8am though. We aimed to set off around 9am, but in the end set off at 10.30 which wasn’t bad. It was exciting to get out of Perth, and we drove to Brookton for lunch, and also stopped off at a really cool salt lake that had some statues in it - we managed to get some great shots! Rox and Paish slept a for a bit and we finally arrived at Wave Rock around 5.30pm. We unpacked, and then headed out to Wave Rock hoping it wasn’t going to be disappointing - it certainly wasn’t, and was amazing both at the bottom and when we climbed on top of the rock to see the sunset!

We came back and went to start our BBQ which took forever! It wasn’t until 9pm we finally sat down with our just cooked chicken, but it was worth it - it was lovely!

Photo comp - Roxy won, Mummy won one and Paish won one - Snoofby won none. Callie stayed in our donga, settling on our bed all night!

2020-12-28 Christmas, Lancelin Surf Day, Mooching, Trigg, Moore River

Rox: Change of Plan! No Adventure World this year! We decided that the weather looked amazing for surfing, so we picked Lancelin for a day trip - the idea being we would set off early, and Paish would join us later on. Well, we didn't quite set or early, and got there at around 1pm. After getting our iced coffees and milkshakes (best ever!), we hit Back Beach, and it was amazing! Mummy set up the video camera and went for a walk while Daddy and I surfed! It was so much fun, and the waves just kept on coming. We had some really good runs, and it was so refreshing as it hit 40 degrees.

Paish joined us at around 4pm for a picnic lunch - her air conditioner in her car stopped working, so it was sweltering in her car! We then hit the beach again - we all caught some great waves, and we got the drone out to get some aerial shots which looked amazing!

Christmas Day was really relaxed - so relaxed no one had wrapped their presents! We got up fairly late after Bella got dropped off at ours, and we started with our stockings at around 10am. We then made pancakes which were amazing. We decided to go to Peasholm Beach with the two dogs, which was really hot and crazy busy, but was good fun. We headed back for a session in the pool, and then had an early roast which was amazing! We then opened the rest of our presents and finished with a game of Rummikub which I won, naturally!

Thank you to everyone for your kind presents! It was an awesome Christmas!

Since Christmas we have had some mooching days, but have kept up with our barefoot running, doing 3km every other day (one with Jenna), and then 4km and planned more over the coming days. I went to Moore River with Aaliyah, and also went surfing at Trigg with Paish and Dad which was funny. A Brazilian girl though we were from Hawaii, and I made friends with these other two girls too. Funny! We also finally watched The Greatest Showman - I love it!

Paish: Surfing was great in Lancelin! I didn't quite find my form, but it was fun all the same. Roxy did amazing. I did like my drone shots though. So many rude people in Kmart which I am a bit fed up with. Not long until we go on our walkabout though!

Kay came out for a sunset pizza with us and then view the Christmas lights - it was fun, but we were so tired!

C: Christmas is so nice - we are getting to bed late and sleeping in - yippee! Lancelin was so nice - it would be great to get a 4WD and go on the beach like a lot of other people do.

It is so nice being on holiday, and that summer in here.

S: My shoulder! Doh! Coolest Christmas ever! So relaxed, getting away from the crowds. Time to wind down.

Caught up with Henry for another BF dumpling lunch - great to see him, but Tomoko is still in Japan - ah man!

2020-12-18 First Barefoot Run, Boys Weekend Lancelin / Jurien Bay - Seal Swim!

S: Well, I didn't listen to my physic, did I? Went to see Justin who really helped me by doing some needling in my achilles and giving me some exercises to do, but after listening to Born To Run, I was determined to start a new journey. I persuaded Rox to join me on my first barefoot run challenge of 6km, and we both finished it! It was amazing - and we both could not believe we just did it! When I went back to see Justin, he was pretty impressed, and is also a believer, but asked us to taper it back a little, perhaps 3km every other day and work up from there. He was very encouraging though.

Set off on Thursday to Lancelin with Dance and Nick - very funny. Went out on the boat in the afternoon to try and catch some crayfish, but only caught a couple of undersized ones and a seal came round to investigate. It was pretty rough out there too, so glad I took my sea sick tablets. We went to the pub for some surprisingly good food and drink, and headed back to their place after I set my swag up. We played guitar and saxophone which was really funny. The swag was a pretty good sleep too, which was surprising. Waking up right next to the beach was lovely!

We then set off to Jurien Bay on Friday after a morning in the boat - again catching very little, but it was lovely being out there. Saw some dolphins and seals too! We then headed up to Jurien Bay, met David at the house, did some shopping, and walked to the pub for dinner - pizzas, and then headed back to the house where we sat out chatting.

On Saturday we headed out at 6am on the boat and they dropped me off on the island to get some drone footage, and when I walked round the small island I saw a seal! I decided to get my go-pro out and have a swim, and he came and swam with me! It was such an amazing experience, and I got it all on film! Got some awesome drone footage too. They finally managed to catch some good sized crayfish which Danch cooked up for dinner with some steaks which was amazing.

Tried to have a windsurf in the afternoon, but way too light. In the evening we listened to some old classic tunes and played guitar, and watched the drone footage on the TV which was pretty cool.

Clara: Wow, barefoot running is amazing! After our first couple of runs, it feels great and I don't feel my knees at all. I can't wait to see where this goes, and can't wait to listen to the book when we go on holiday!

Paish: Woking like crazy, and I'm just 3 weeks behind on my extra study unit - oh dear! Touch is so much fun at the moment though, and playing with Rox is great.

C: So close to finishing - I can't wait! Only the excursions to go!

2020-12-06 Three Medals in a week! Wahoo! Junior State Champs, Brothers Touch, Mater Dei Awards, BF Christmas Party!

Rox: Wow, it has been such a great week! I managed to get 3 medals this week which was so fun!

We've been training or Junior State Championships for a few weeks now, and our team has been looking great. We've beaten the other age groups apart from U18 in training, which was promising. When we got to states, there were quite a few weaker teams, and a couple of strong teams - Peel and Southern. We lost to Peel in the round games, but when we got to finals, we managed to beat Northern and then Southern in the final convincingly. It was such fun, and I really enjoyed it more than last year as I knew a lot more this year and was more involved. I almost knocked a boy out too, which was funny. My favourite game was when I scored a hat-trick of tries!

We then had our local Brothers Tuesday night tournament which we also won - we didn't expect to win. I played for Legacy Whanau, and we played Bayswater Aces, and surprisingly beat them by a few tries.

Finally, I was going to receive an award at the Mater Dei Awards evening - I had no idea what it could have been for - Religion? I was really hoping for the Sports Award, and I got it! I was so happy! Last year I couldn't take part at all, so I was so proud to receive it!

Mmmmm, dim sum! Our reward for States! Finally!

Paish: Junior States was so much fun - we had a great team at Brothers, and met Northern in the final. We lost to them in the round games, so it was payback! It was such a great final, and really close. Dwayne's son Cody was so good, and kept them in it, but we had so many good players in our team, and we played a very good game. We won by a couple of tries, which was awesome, and definitely the best tournament of touch I've played!

C: So much fun hanging out with Daddy and watching touch! We even snuck out to a garden centre and a coffee! What a fun weekend! You girls are great! I'm even starting to learn the rules now!

S: So much fun! Great to watch quality touch! Well done girls, amazing double!

For the BF Christmas Party, Andrea arranged a gig at Quarry Ampitheatre to see Katy Steele - it was amazing! The first two bands were okay (the second very average), but Katy Steele was amazing! The best BF Christmas Party ever!

2020-11-18 My First Hamstring Injury! End of Super Series, Interschool Netball. Argentina beat All Blacks!

Rox: Super series ended up being a little disappointing. We though we would get better as a team, but it turned out the guys just started passing to themselves, and were getting nowhere. It was a shame, as there were so many times we could have scored. I think I'll try out for the women's. The most disappointing is I pulled my hamstring during the warm up so didn't get to play the last game. I don't think I missed much though, as we conceded a lot of tries in the first half and could not make it back against ECU.

We finished our Interschool netball season unbeaten! I really enjoyed it and we had some close games, but we had a really good team too and managed to pull through each one!

Paish: Not a great last couple of rounds of Super Series, and pretty disappointed at the fact they don't use all players. In the end, it is up to them, but I hardly touched the ball. Ah well. Women's it seems is the way to go.

Wallaroos continues to be painfully hard!

Watched Argentina beat the All Blacks for the first time in history - since 1985! It was an amazing game, and they made NZ look very average. The tackling was immense! They play Australia next week - oh dear...

S: Loved watching Argentina! My second favourite team - they were amazing. I wonder how Aus will do - who shall I support?!

C: Even I enjoyed watching Argentina! Well, a lot more enjoyable than watching Super Series! I feel sad for the girls - why don't they get passed to, it does not make sense!

2020-11-07 Paish is back! Summer Haircut, Beach at Sunset, Storms, Hammersley + Gym

Callie: Ah man, I got no hair left! This big blue dog game and cut all my hair off! I am sooooo embarrassed, but I suppose I'll get use to it.

Clara: I was shocked to see Callie! It is soooo short! funny though! Only a couple of Hammersley sessions left, and we had game play for the last couple of weeks. Dad came to watch after his workout at Wanneroo - I think I played pretty well, and I was always on the top court with the older girls trialing for Comets.

Had a play date with Samara and Grace at Mullaloo - we tried to surf, but there were literally no waves at all, so we just messed around and took some cool photos.

Aiysha: Weird being back, but since I've been back it has been non-stop! Training, work, surfing, and other stuff keeps getting in the way of sleeping! I was so aching after training with the Wallarros again it wasn't funny. Especially when I played 3 games of Wanneroo touch after! It was fun though - Dallas was there, plus some other girls we will look to recruit for next season, tee hee.

C: Callie looks so skinny - how can she be so fast!

S: She looks ridiculous! Super series at Rosher was not funny, and I made myself heard...everyone, including Dallas, agreed - Clara and Aiysha were not too happy with my outburst though, but someone had to say something!

Yay, Grandad got my hat for his birthday!
