2017-09-26 (Tuesday) - The Day of 5 Tastes
Well, here they are:
1. Best crab in the world
2. Best char sui in the world
3. Laksa for breakfast
4. Kolo Mee
5. Mini lime drink - kalamantan?
Woke up around 7, had Laksa for breakfast - weird, but lovely. Girls had toast and buns. Then walked to the Adventure place and met Fahar who was an incredibly eloquent speaker, and told us all about the merchant James who became king of Borneo and the inherited dynasty of the Brooke family - an amazing story teller! They sounded like a very nice bunch, and made friends with the rebellion!
We rode all around the south side of the river to all the museums - amazing stories about the death ceremonies and their servants. Very dedicated indeed! We then went round to the north side, and did a beautiful non-stop ride along the river and up to the grave of another Brooke member.
We finally got a boat back over the river, and headed back to where we started. What a trip!
We headed home for some lunch - fruit, char sui bao, tarts. The rested for a bit, and Aiysha got an email that she was in the reserves for the Western Force squad - go Paish! She did so well to get in, especially against girls older than her, and a pretty high level!
Aiysha then wanted to head out to the markets! We quickly got ready, and headed out. We tried to get there quickly, but the bus we got on had a pretty relaxed driver to say the least. The passengers were not best pleased. We got the Jalan India, and scouted out for stuff. All pretty cheap, and Roxy got 2 pairs of shorts, but we’ll head back tomorrow to get our stuff. We were pretty exhausted by now.
We then walked along the riverside and stopped to have a drink in the James Blake cafe - lovely! didn’t find any layer cake along the riverfront, and decided to go to TopStop food hall - little did we know it would be seafood heaven! We ordered satay, fried rice and veg for the girls and then hunted for our crab. In the end we got 2 mud crabs in butter sauce, and it was the most amazing crab we’ve ever had! We could not believe it. The sauce was so nice we had to have more rice! The equivalent feeling was the fish on Simi, Greece. We have to come back tomorrow.
Walked back on the hunt for layer cake, but none found, so we settled for a fluffy chocolate cake. Yummy!
Dad would just like to say he won both rounds of Pit today. To the displeasure of everyone.
