2017-09-29 (Friday) - The Jungle Trek

What a sleep! 9.30-6.30, then until 9.30 again - 12 hours! Amazing! We can all feel recovering from being battered by civilisation!

Breakfast then our local beach in the morning - just a bit relaxing before we hit the jungle after lunch. We built a dam, did some exercises, and lazed around for an hour or so.

Had our baked aubergine + garlic cream cheese toast, then we had our tart and chocolate cake - so nice!

Matt then showed us the entrance to the jungle path, then we were on our own. I was elected the sacrificial leader, and we set off! It was so dense, some parts really steep, and the floor was covered in leaves so we didn’t really know what we were stepping on. At one point Callie went to chase some animals, and they sounded like wild boar! It was very creepy knowing no one was going to be coming along at any point. We crossed 3 small streams, and then hit the big stream which we gullied. At one point part of the river turned black whilst the other was clear - very strange. The gullying was so fun, and we eventually reached our abandoned beach. We got to spend a couple of hours here, which was amazing. We swam, threw the ball around, climbed rocks, explored, collected rubbish and put them into a basket, and then finally had hermit crab races - so funny! Daddy won with his, but just when Mummy thought she had a winner, it attacked her! It had a massive claw and would not let go. Daddy got here to hold it under the water, and it eventually walked away. Funny!

Hiked back over the rocks on the way back - took 30 minutes this time!

Showered, and played some Mario before dinner - Once Paish joined in, no one had a hope!

Dinner was samosa, cous cous and dips - yummy! Girls only liked the samosa, and left me with the salad - bonus! On the way out, Roxy spotted a snake! Matt ushered it away, but it ended up being a Malaysian Poisonous Crate Viper - deadly! Went down to the beach, and watched the lightening on the other islands, and we saw a single firefly fly past! Amazing!

Finally slept at 10.30, after Daddy got smashed at Mario.
